Homer and Mason travel to the bottom of the sea in a unique submarine until they find two chests full of treasure. The protagonist then calls his friends and tells them that if he touches the surface, the first thing he will do is bring the loot to Moe’s Cantina, the local bar from the animated series.
Suddenly, Homer gets stuck on a coral reef as the submarine’s oxygen levels are running low. In this way, the character falls into a state of unconsciousness until dawn, after being in a coma in a hospital for three days.
The Simpsons fans have claimed that the show’s writers and creators have predicted yet another historic real-life event. “I don’t know what surprises you about the submarine lost in the Atlantic. The Simpsons had already warned you,” said one social media user.
Others commented, “I am amazed at The Simpsons’ ability to predict matters of national and international interest.”
It is worth noting that American screenwriter and producer of The Simpsons, Mike Reiss, told the BBC in 2022 that he had made the same expedition in an OceanGate submersible to see the remains of the Titanic. His experience was startling as he revealed that “there are problems with the ship”.
On his journey, which he described as “experimental”, he said: “[OceanGate] It learns as they use it, just like the first space programs did.” On that occasion, the submersible also lost communications, but they managed to fix the problem.
