In honor of Paulinho da Viola’s 80th birthday, Ecad has compiled an overview of the artist’s most played and recorded songs

This Saturday, November 12th, the singer, songwriter, guitarist, cavaquinist and mandolinist from Rio celebrates his 80th birthday. Throughout your career Paulinho da Violaremained an undeniable reference for the genre and for several artists, marked by soft harmonies and soft voice.

To celebrate this date, Ecad (Centre for Collection and Distribution), owner of one of the largest music databases in Latin America, distributed the 10 most played songs Paulinho da Violain Brazil, based on the number of plays on radio, television and internet over the last ten years.

For the study, his 234 musical works and 565 recordings of Paulinho da Viola registered in Ecad. The carioca track most often covered by other artists was “It was a river that flowed through my life”and also the most played in the last 10 years.

Another study related to the musical works of Paulinho da Viola showed the words most frequently repeated in music tracks used by the musician, each in ascending order: “amor” with 13 repetitions, followed by “vida” and “viver” with 9; “samba”, with 7; and “heart”, with 6.
