“The skin torn off the back”: a terrible accident for this ex-NFL star

Former NFL wide receiver Jimmy Graham avoided the worst of a serious bicycle accident but still suffered bloody injuries.

Graham, whose last NFL game was on Sept. 12, 2021, never officially announced his retirement but appears to have moved on to a different call.

His friend AJ Hawk, a former Green Bay Packers receiver, revealed that Graham was training to sail around the world. To stay in shape, he started cycling regularly.

During an interview on the Pat McAfee Show podcast, Hawk revealed some harrowing details about Graham’s accident, which happened on Tuesday.

“He was cycling in Miami yesterday. [mardi]and was hit by a car. He told me he did more damage to the vehicle than anything else,” Hawk said.

“He had a cut on his calf and it looked like worms were coming out. The cut was so deep and you could see everything in it.

In turn, Graham attended Pat McAfee’s show on Thursday and added more of it with a smile on his face.

“The driver didn’t see me and I thought he destroyed my leg,” he said. After all, it’s just a cut. But [l’accident] ripped the whole skin off my back too.”

Graham had a successful career with the Goodell Circuit, playing for the New Orleans Saints, Seattle Seahawks, Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears.

He made five Pro Bowl appearances and caught 713 balls for 8,506 yards and 85 touchdowns during his career.
