– Oh no….
– TVA Sports the sky is falling…
– TVA GROUP’s THIN COW depend on the HIGHEST PAID shows to survive…
– Whether Quebecor can afford to own a chain that has lost around $300 million since 2011. (even if Péladeau speaks of 200 million)
– If Quebecor can afford to sign the big checks to Jean-Charles Lajoie, Renaud Lavoie, Félix Séguin and Co…. despite dizzying financial deficits…
– Because his CASH COWS are extremely lucrative.
– But now FALL FREE is one of the most profitable programs in the history of TVA.
– The VOICE BANGS against a WALL…
It’s 20 years this year since the thunderous televised singing competitions electrified our Sunday nights. Twenty years Star Académie and La voix, alternately at TVA. The early years of La voix and Star Ac exploded on our televisions, their success was phenomenal. Two steamrollers crushing everything in their path. But in the last couple of seasons the enthusiasm for these telehooks has waned. wrote Hugo Dumas in La Presse.
Barely five years ago, we would never have seen such a reversal. The hum of the voice growls less loudly. Even I, who have followed all issues, find it difficult to fully re-engage with this ninth chapter after a three-year absence. However, the show’s decoration has never been so brilliant, the production has stepped up a notch, Charles Lafortune navigates this universe with ease and agility, but lacks spectacular candidates to throw us on our ass.
Also, the predictable mechanics of The Voice, very repetitive, no longer surprises. Blind auditions, duels, fight songs and live performances, the wheel cannot be reinvented. And the first steps are very long to discover the future Josiane Comeau, Stéphanie St-Jean or Yama Laurent who unfortunately had none! didn’t climb the charts.
Unlike Star Académie, which shows its students in their ups and (mostly) their downs, The Voice keeps its distance from its participants, who we only see on stage, never in their daily lives, it’s part of the original Dutch concept.
Star Académie’s real-life formula offers more crisp and engaging moments: rehearsals with Gregory Charles, “debriefings” with Lara Fabian (and her scalpel), weeping fits in the toilets, interrogations, couch potatoes, no shortage of chews and exfoliants .
– We can LINK to Jean-Charles Lajoie’s show…
– Who was not able to renew.
– Nothing new (aside from Tony Marinaro saving the SHOW).
– No surprises…
– Too long sections where the viewer loses the thread.
– Too many static shots of Lajoie and his monologues.
– It’s a RADIO SHOW… but on TV…
– A show that is extremely expensive to produce…and can no longer count on the millions of votes being “funded”.
– A Lost Show… a bit like poor Marjo on The Voice…
In the red armchairs from La Voix, trainer Marc Dupré maintains his performance and liveliness. Mario Pelchat and Corneille were impressive recruits, Mario had even singled out one of the crowd favourites, 17-year-old Sophie Grenier. It was less obvious to Marjo, who was absent Sunday night due to COVID-19. It took the rocker several weeks to feel comfortable on set.
She seemed lost, stuck, and her peers were helping her (a little) to find herself, baby. On Sunday, Marjo’s decision to favor Nathaël Young was overturned by a massive viewer vote who voted for Christopher Therrien. Oops.
For her part, Marjo’s successor, France D’Amour, has appeared to have been in the managerial chair since Charlotte Cardin’s death in 2013. She was lively, funny and eloquent. For the next season, I hear his voice, my ouh-ouh!
