Caleb Simpson, an American YouTuber, went viral in recent days when he showed off a tiny apartment in Japan. The property, with an estimated rent of US$700, or around R$3,500, is only 5 m² in size. In the video, Caleb shows that it is almost possible to touch both walls of the residence.

Right at the entrance there is a closet for storing shoes and space for a washing machine. The shower is positioned a little further forward and is a surprising size given the size of the apartment. Then there is the bathroom, which only has a toilet.

“If I sat down, I don’t think I could close the door,” Norm Nakamura, who also appears in the video, said of the bathroom. Led by the channel Tokyo Lens, the YouTuber also featured these tiny apartments in a video that has more than 3.1 million views.

A movable staircase opens the way to the mezzanine, where a mattress can be placed for sleeping, but standing, or at most sitting, is not possible. In addition, the apartment has some household items to optimize space, such as a pullout clothesline. Watch the video.
