The smart investor: a short list of the best (and worst) brokerage sites

In this column, which appears every two weeks, we give you specific suggestions on how you can invest your money in the stock market.

When you manage your own TFSA or RRSP, the usability and power of the brokerage site you transact on is very important! What are the best (and worst) platforms in Canada?

Financial columnist Rob Carrick of The Globe and Mail recently published the 24th edition of his ranking of brokerage sites. Here are the most popular ones in Quebec, from worst to best.

Keep in mind that most brokers charge up to $100 per year if you don’t have a minimum balance in your account ($10,000 to $25,000).
