SNAP beneficiaries in some states will receive $1,751.00 in financial assistance before December 23rd. As is well known, the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program is a federal project. However, each state decides when the monthly budget is delivered to those entitled.
There are still around two weeks until the end of 2023 until the beneficiaries have their money in their hands. Each state has its own peculiarities in this regard. For example, Alaska already sent its payments on December 1st, the next day will be the first day of 2024.
Payments before Christmas
The states that will send out their SNAP checks before Christmas are: Alabama, Delaware, Georgia, Indiana, Louisiana and Maryland. Some prefer to send the estimate using the Social Security number, others use the first letter of the person's last name and sometimes the case number as well.
Alabama began sending out SNAP benefits on Dec. 4 and uses the last two digits of the recipient's case number. December 23rd will be the final payment for those whose case numbers end in years 95-99.
Delaware began the trial on the second day. If applicable, use the first letter of the beneficiary's last name. If the first letter is Q or R, payment will be made on December 18th. If the first letter is U or V, December 21st. If the first letter is X, Y or Z, December 23rd
In Georgia, payments began on December 15th. On the 17th, beneficiaries whose final DNI numbers are between 60 and 69 will receive it.
Indiana also uses the first letter of the recipient's last name. A payout is made every two days and ends on December 23rd.
In Louisiana they are based on the last digit of the social security number. The next payments will be made on December 17th, 19th, 21st and 23rd.
Finally, in Maryland, the SNAP office uses the first three letters of the beneficiary's last name. The maximum amount payable is $1,751.00 if the family consists of 8 people and $973.00 if the household consists of four members. A single person can receive up to $291.00.
