The lives of millions of parents and children changed on November 27, 2013, when “Frozen” hit theaters. Who would have thought that Elsa and Anna would turn our lives upside down? The film became a global success, grossing $1.28 billion, but it wasn’t until 2019’s Frozen 2 that the film became the biggest success in animated film history, grossing $1.45 billion worldwide Revenue. “Frozen” won two Oscars – Best Animated Film and Best Original Song for “Let It Go,” which became a real phenomenon.

The queer icon?
For ten years the question has been lingering: Is the famous refrain (“liberated, delivered…”) a metaphor for coming out of the closet or not? Is Elsa a queer icon? With all due respect to all the scientists who have studied this question, an interview with the song’s authors (Bobby Lopez and Kristen Anderson-Lopez) seems to refute this no less interesting thesis: rather, it is a hymn to freedom of women in general and the pressure placed on them in particular.

Characteristics of Amy Winehouse

The first sketches inspired by Amy Winehouse
We knew that Disney’s Frozen was loosely inspired by the Hans Christian Andersen story of the same name. However, when we look into the archives, we learn that the originally rather evil character Elsa initially took on similar traits to… Amy Winehouse! At least that’s what Claire Keane, the artist involved in the visual development of the film, who published the first sketches on her website, reveals. We understand that the character has evolved a lot…

Jennifer Lee, in 2019, in Anaheim, California
Jennifer Lee is the first woman to co-direct a Disney animated film with Chris Buck and gross more than a billion. She is the one who wrote the story of Frozen. In 2018, she became Chief Creative Officer of Walt Disney Animation Studios, where she promotes diversity and equality. In Frozen, she focused on the sisterhood of the two heroines Elsa and Anna and, above all, caused a surprise by making Hans a prince charming… who is a traitor!

World of Frozen is the first-ever “land” in a Disney park inspired by the famous animated saga.
A world paying homage to the world of Frozen, World of Frozen, has just opened in Hong Kong, the first-ever “land” of a Disney park inspired by the famous animated saga. In keeping with the 10th birthday, there is the real kingdom of Arendell, several rides (Frozen Ever After) and other roller coasters and of course a merchandise shop. Expect to be greeted here by Elsa, Olga or even Olaf.

The pipe
The song, performed in English by Idina Menzel (in French by Anaïs Delva), broke sales records and the album became one of the best-selling of 2014, just behind… Taylor Swift (1989). Parodied in every way, on YouTube we found an adaptation in “ch’ti”, a therapeutic version (by a couples expert: “Let Him Go!)” and even – our favorite – a pandemic version (“locked up, restricted…”). “).

Even though parents can no longer hear Liberée, many of them still liked the name Elsa! In 2014, thanks to the animated film, Elsa became a popular first name in the United States for the first time in more than a century, the New York Times reported. Since 1917, the first name Elsa has never appeared in the top 500 most popular first names for girls. In 2014, 1,140 of them inherited it, making it 286th in popularity. The tourist boom

Hallstatt, Austria
Officially, it is the landscapes of Norway that inspired the Kingdom of Arendelle. Some members of the Disney animation team even traveled there to enjoy the snowy scenery. Tourism from the United States to Norway increased 37% in 2014 compared to 2013. Fans also discovered that the picturesque village of Hallstatt in Austria is the same as Arendelle. A million tourists from all over the world come here every year, disturbing the tranquility of the 780 residents of this village, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Wooden barriers were even installed to prevent selfies from being taken.
