The Solstice | “Smash Burger” and natural wine in Morin-Heights – La Presse

While the solstice typically only occurs twice a year, residents of the Laurentians and passing tourists don’t have to wait that long to treat themselves to a “smash burger” break and natural wine, an unusual combination in the region.

Open since September, Le Solstice aims to welcome foodies year-round to its charming little space next to the gas station on Route 364 and very close to the Aerobics Corridor. Behind the hotplate or the cash register, as the case may be, we find Missy Tremblay, the owner, and her sisters who have followed her in this first restaurant project. After training in various establishments, notably the Au Pied de Cochon restaurant in Montreal, and working in France as a sommelier at a Michelin-starred restaurant, she chose the Laurentians as her home base. With Le Solstice, Missy offers gourmet snack cuisine, but simple and relaxed.

The restaurant’s specialty is the “Smash Signature” double meatballs, which are shredded on the plate and served on three brioche buns. The menu also includes a super taco, a breakfast sandwich, fries, hot dogs and poutines, as well as some vegetarian options. As for drinks, the owner wanted to offer a selection of privately imported wines to take away. Since the establishment has a liquor license, it is also possible to accompany your meal with a margarita, a can of orange wine or a beer from the Herman craft brewery. There are only two large tables, but weather permitting you can sit outside or take your takeaway order.

Open Thursday to Sunday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Monday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
