The Spice Girls ‘will reunite while entering advanced negotiations for a jukebox musical film’

The Spice Girls are reportedly getting back together for a jukebox musical film.

According to The Sun, the girl band have entered “advanced negotiations” for a movie featuring their greatest hits.

The alleged film will be produced by SeeSaw Films and will be a coming-of-age story about a Spice Girls superfan.

The news comes 26 years after the band’s cult classic ‘Spice World’ hit theaters and became a box office hit.

In the 1997 film, the girls played fictional versions of themselves ahead of a big concert at London’s Royal Albert Hall.

Speaking to The Sun, a source said: “Everyone is very excited about this script but it’s going to be a completely different act from ‘Spice World’.”

“It doesn’t feature the girls, but it’s essentially a gentle, upbeat coming-of-age story – a jukebox musical – about a child who becomes obsessed with the Spice Girls.”

“It’s very similar in style to Take That’s recent Great Days film, which was adapted from their stage show. “It’s supported by the band – all five have agreed to the project – and it will feature several of their songs.”

They add that Geri Horner is directing and speaking regularly to the producer and that she is eager to make the film a hit.

The band hope the planned film will be more successful than their ill-fated West End musical Viva Forever.

The jukebox musical launched in 2012 and received huge negative reviews from critics.

In May 2013 it was announced that the show would end after just seven months, with a loss of “at least £5million” due to poor ticket sales.

The news about the film comes after Geri put an end to rumors that the Spice Girls will be reuniting next year to celebrate their 30th anniversary and perform at Glastonbury.

Ginger Spice, 51, has now denied Emma Bunton, 47, Mel Brown, 48, Mel Chisholm, 49, and Victoria Beckham, 49, are getting back together to headline the Pyramid Stage.

She revealed they never plan to get together again for the festival, but hinted there could be something new soon.

Speaking to the Sunday Times, she hinted: “Eventually there will be something.”

The band last took the stage in 2019 for an incredible 13-date UK tour, however Posh Spice was absent.

Recently there were rumors that Geri, Emma, Mel B and Mel C have tentatively agreed on tour dates in 2024, with the previously absent Victoria “bringing ideas”.

A source told The Sun: “Victoria will be 50 next year and the girls turning 30 seem like two anniversaries too good to miss.”

“The girls were discussing a documentary that would feature never-before-seen behind-the-scenes footage as well as actual interviews. All five are on board to celebrate 30 years in some way. It’s very exciting.’

The band formed in 1994 and their debut single “Wannabe” topped the charts in 37 countries in 1996.

The band went on hiatus in 2000 when Victoria left the band and reunited briefly in 2007 for a worldwide tour, with tickets for their London O2 performance selling out in two minutes.

Five years later, all five members performed at the closing ceremony of the London Olympics.
