The Dallas Stars' win over the Ottawa Senators on Friday night cost the victorious team a loss.
In this 5-4 win, the Texas club suffered the loss of goalkeeper Jake Oettinger. The latter suffered a lower-body injury in the first period after allowing two goals on three shots.
The Stars scored two goals in the third period and triumphed. Miro Heiskanen initially equalized and Matt Duchene then scored the winning goal.
Thomas Harley (shorthanded), Esa Lindell and Joe Pavelski were the other goal scorers for the winners. The Senators' answer came from sluggers Drake Batherson (twice), Travis Hamonic and Josh Norris. Jakob Chychrun shone with three assists.
In addition, the “Sens” were deprived of the services of striker Vladimir Tarasenko
The Ottawa organization had indicated less than two hours before the first puck drop that the 32-year-old Russian had to be absent due to a “family matter.” He was replaced in the lineup by Rourke Chartier.
In his first year with the Senators, Tarasenko scored six goals and had 13 assists for 19 points in 24 games. On July 27, he signed a one-year contract worth $5 million.
