The story of the famous group Les BB is brought to the screen – Le Journal de Montréal

As we have learned, the legendary story of the group Les BB, which rose to fame in the early 1990s, will be brought to the big screen The newspaper. The production of the film or television series was entrusted to filmmaker Alain DesRochers, who knew the trio well and directed several of their music videos.

A few days ago, producer Christian Larouche (Louis Cyr, Confessions) reached an agreement with the families of Patrick Bourgeois and François Jean, as well as with Alain Lapointe, to acquire the production rights to a work of fiction tentatively titled “Why are you in the moon?

The idea is to produce a film about the group's illustrious career, but it could also be a TV series.

“It's very exciting,” said Ludovick Bourgeois, the son of Patrick Bourgeois, the famous BB singer who died of cancer six years ago.

“Christian Larouche was extremely respectful in contacting everyone and including us in this adventure. It will be a big, beautiful project.”

Christian Larouche didn't have to think long to find the right director for this ambitious project. The first name that came to mind was filmmaker Alain DesRochers, with whom he had already collaborated on the biographical drama “Gerry” (about the life of Gerry Boulet).

“It is very rare that I choose the director of a project before I have found the screenwriter who will write it, but in this case it was obvious,” says the producer and president of the company Christal Films, which also develops feature films Projects about Diane Dufresne and Guy Lafleur.

“Alain knew the members of the group well and had many anecdotes to tell about them. His experience working with Les BB will be very valuable.”

At the beginning of his career as a director, Alain DesRochers had the opportunity to work with the members of the BB – Patrick Bourgeois, François Jean and Alain Lapointe – and shoot the music videos for several of their most famous songs, including “T' es dans la lune, She is snobbish and alone in battle.

“It was a party every time!” says the filmmaker, who will soon be making a film about Boule Noire, with a laugh.

“Patrick was a very dynamic person who constantly pushed himself at 400 miles per hour! The script hasn't been written yet, but I already know that I want to make a film that radiates joy of life. Because every time Les BB played somewhere it was crazy!

“It is a time [les années 1990] It will also be fun to reproduce. There was so much excitement. BB's popularity was like “Beatlemania” on a smaller scale. They filled large rooms and everywhere they went there were girls running after them.”

Although the screenwriter has not yet been confirmed, Christian Larouche hopes to have a first version of the script in hand within a year and to begin filming in 2026.

It is still too early to officially start the search for the actor who will lend his features to the legendary singer Patrick Bourgeois. But the producer wants Ludovick Bourgeois to try his luck.

“It would be extraordinary if he could do it, but it would certainly be a tall order for him. We’ll audition him and we’ll see,” says Mr. Larouche.

Ludovick Bourgeois shares the same opinion: there is no question of him skipping steps.

“I don’t want to force myself into a field where I could break my face,” says the 30-year-old singer, who will present a tribute to his father’s group in 2024.

“I just want the good of the film. And there are some other aspects of production that I can get involved in, like the music. If I'm lucky enough to audition for the role and I'm interested in it at this point in my career, we'll see. But I am aware that it is a different job and I have a lot to eat before I think about doing that one day.”
