Katie Brown only joined Sunrise earlier this year, but the roving reporter is apparently set for a big promotion.
Katie is currently filling in for weatherman Sam Mac during his paternity leave and is set to take over the role of sports presenter from Mark Beretta in 2025.
According to Woman’s Day, the 32-year-old journalist is currently training to take over Mark’s position on the breakfast show when his contract ends.
“Katie is just a country kid who appeals to any audience with her no-nonsense style,” a source close to the show’s production told the magazine.
“Some people behind the scenes have quietly expressed that Mark’s flashy lifestyle may not always resonate with viewers,” the insider added.

“The irony in all of this is that Beretta is one of Katie’s biggest supporters and has been almost a mentor to her,” the source said.
Beretta, 57, recently signed a two-year contract extension with Sunrise.
The father-of-two originally joined the show in 2000 as co-host alongside Georgie Gardner and moved into the role of sports presenter in 2004.
Meanwhile, Katie has already taken on the responsibility of filling in for Mark during his absences and has received widespread recognition on social media, with even Mark himself receiving praise.
“Great job KB!” he wrote in the comments of her sunrise-themed Instagram post.

This comes after Beretta recently separated from his wife of 22 years last month.
The Sunrise star and his former partner, who married in 2001, confirmed in a statement that they had quietly split in recent months.
“Earlier this year, after much thought and 22 years of marriage, Rach and I came to the conclusion that a separation was best for us,” Beretta told Chron Australia through a Seven spokesperson.
“We remain good friends, and our two children and grandchild remain our focus and priority as we move forward with love, dignity and respect.”
The couple, who met in 1999, have two children together, daughter Ava, 19, and son Dan, 16.E
