This is the end of more than 24 hours of investigation for New York law enforcement. The man suspected of opening fire on the New York subway on Tuesday morning (French time) has been arrested and taken into police custody, New York police said at a news conference on Wednesday. April 13th. This is the person wanted since the day before, a 62-year-old American.

The authorities also announced that he would be prosecuted for “terrorist attacks and other violence against (…) public transport,” federal prosecutor Breon Peace said at a press conference a little later. And to add, “He will appear in federal court in Brooklyn and face a life sentence if convicted.”
The toll of this attack on Brooklyn’s 36th Street station is 23 wounded, including 10 from bullets (the other 13 casualties were injured in the stampede that followed). “We were really lucky that it didn’t get much more serious,” said the New York City Police Commissioner.
The suspect fired 33 bullets. A vehicle key was also found, which allowed investigators to track down a van recently rented and abandoned in Brooklyn by American rental company U-Haul.
