After crossing several parts of the province, the snow continues its journey. These regions will have to deal with the passage of the system and the subsequent decline in mercury until the evening. Details.

The last few hours have caused problems for drivers across the province. However, the low pressure front is quietly retreating through the eastern gates towards the American border.

Road conditions to pay attention to

Some factors complicate the road conditions in Estrie and Beauce. Firstly, temperatures will be around freezing and below in some places. Snow does not melt immediately when it comes into contact with the ground. Therefore, snow accumulation may occur on certain roads.

Also note that with the expected drop in mercury in the evening, melted snow on the roadway could turn into patches of ice.

The next few hours

In Beauce the snow should last until around 4pm, in Thetford Mines perhaps even until 8pm. In Sherbrooke, the moderate snow window is between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. On the Lac Mégantic side it will be a little later, between 4 p.m. and 9 p.m. A bit like in summer, the cells can be relatively vigorous during their passage, but overall the system loses intensity.

Particular attention will be paid to Highway 10 east of Route 35, Highway 20 between Beloeil and Victoriaville, and Route 55 along its entire length. In Beauce, routes 73 and 173 between Sainte-Marie and Saint-Georges should be monitored.

Snow fell in several regions of the province this morning. As this video shows, there were lots of snowflakes in Montreal.
