Movistar premiered Pearl by Ti West. This film is the prequel to another one called X and is theoretically better than The problem is that almost all potential viewers have already seen the film. Where? I don’t know, on some pirate ship. And because? Because they have to comment before anyone else. Having to cover the world with their opinion is a common evil among fans of certain things (horror movies, anime, historical recreations or other minority needs). And opinions are more contagious than ringworm.

It’s also true that anyone who grew up with the internet knows that the game is basically about throwing rocks at anything: against who is in front, against who is below, against who , which lies above it, or against the roof itself if necessary. Who would risk handing out Pearl if all the stones had already been thrown? Is it even worth spending the money to put on a platform? Very few people go to the cinema, and there are quite a few voices warning that cinema’s days are numbered.

Hopefully that’s not true, because cinema has to be seen in the dark and projected onto a screen, even if we’ve gotten used to the home-made variety. If “Pearl” had come to the cinema, no one would have gone because all potential viewers have already seen the film. If a product is not profitable, production is stopped. Does the world need more horror movies? Well, probably not. But if you like it, if you enjoy it, try to stick with it, lest tomorrow you have a stone in your hand that you have nowhere to throw.
