In his essay, Dugin addresses the conflict between Israel and Hamas as a catalyst for the birth of something new “Islamic pole” that could unite Russia and China against the USA. He openly supports Hamas in the war and repeats the false arguments of Islamic radicals: “The West, together with its Israeli proxy, is attacking the Islamic world and committing genocide against the Palestinians.”
The philosopher sees the war in Ukraine as a symbol of the fight between the “multipolarity” he defends and the American “unipolarity”. In the article he discusses the actual possibility of one Nuclear war, suggesting that either a new multipolar world will emerge or that nothing will remain. “Each of the Poles must prove their right to exist through this conflict,” he threatens.
In the article, Dugin defines the current conflicts in the Middle East and Ukraine as a war between the “atheistic and materialistic” West and traditional religions. According to Dugin, this ideological and cultural conflict will shape the future of geopolitics. Benjamin Teitelbaum, author of “War for Eternity,” describes Dugin as a “reactionary prophet of Russian ultranationalism.” For Teitelbaum, he is a “traditionalist,” just like Steve Bannon and Olavo de Carvalho.
In Brazil, Dugin’s influence is seen primarily through the movement New Resistor (NR), a group that mixes extremist ideologies traditionally associated with both the right and the left.
