“The Three Body Problem”, “The Regime” and other series recommended for March 2024 | TV

A political satire with Kate Winslet as the protagonist. A historical story full of ambition, sex and manipulation. Some criminals from the neighborhood were involved in the largest jihadist attack in Spain's history. Guy Ritchie's universe was made into a series. The new creation of those responsible for Game of Thrones. Among the television proposals that stand out this month, there are many prominent names in front of and behind the camera and several options that travel back in time with different points of view.

Plus, The (Completely Fictional) Adventures of Dick Turpin (Day 1 on Apple TV+) features the silliest, most absurd comedy. Mandy Patinkin is the world's best detective and must investigate a murder on a cruise ship in Death and Stuff (Day 5 on Disney+). The story of porn star Rocco Siffredi becomes a series in Supersex (Day 6 on Netflix). Swedish teen hit Young Highnesses concludes its story with its third season (day 11 on Netflix). “Girls on the Bus” (15th on HBO Max) follows four female journalists on the election campaign trail. And Argentinian Coppola the Representative (Day 15 on Disney+) turns the story of Guillermo Coppola, Maradona's manager, into fiction.

Of this month's premieres and returns (which you can check out on our calendar), we recommend giving this selection a chance.

The regime

Kate Winslet and Guillaume Gallienne in The Regime.Kate Winslet and Guillaume Gallienne in The Regime.

Reviews of this six-part miniseries differ on a number of points, but there is agreement on one thing: Kate Winslet, its protagonist, is brilliant and reason enough to watch this political satire. Will Tracy, one of the screenwriters of Succession and the film The Menu, signs the script for a story by Stephen Frears and Jessica Hobbs. Kate Winslet plays the dictatorial chancellor of a fictional European republic, which she runs from a luxury hotel that she has turned into a kind of personal Versailles, and whose paranoia grows in tandem with the collapse of her country's economy. Hugh Grant, Martha Plimpton, Matthias Schoenaerts and Andrea Riseborough complete the cast.

See you in another life

Roberto Gutiérrez, in the series “See you in another life”.

Gabriel Montoya Vidal, Baby, a 16-year-old young man, was the first to be convicted of the attacks of March 11, 2004 in Madrid. His story is the central theme of a series that shows the Asturian conspiracy that led to the largest jihadist attack on European territory. Based on the summary of the 11M macro trial and the interview that Baby gave to journalist Manuel Jabois (and which he published in the book See you in this life or in the other), Jorge and Alberto Sánchez-Cabezudo made one together a six-episode miniseries that shows how some petty criminals ultimately became the agents of a tragedy.

When and where can you see it? On Wednesday the 6th on Disney+.

The Gentlemen: The Series

Theo James, star of “The Gentlemen: The Series.”

Although this series, created, co-written and produced by filmmaker Guy Ritchie, is not exactly an adaptation or spin-off of the film of the same name, it does capture the spirit of the film. Theo James plays a man who unexpectedly inherits a huge estate from his father, which includes a massive cannabis empire. Threats soon emerge in the form of thugs looking to get their share of the pie and take advantage of the new manager's inexperience, but he will learn quickly. The violence, dark humor and extreme characters that are common in Ritchie's films can also be found in this series.

When and where can you see it? Thursday the 7th on Netflix.

Mary and George

Julianne Moore and Nicholas Galitzine, stars of “Mary & George.”

The story behind this historical drama is real, even though it may seem like a lie. Mary Villiers raised her second son to make his way at court. His goal was to get as close as possible to King James I of England and thus climb the social ladder. So much so that the young man George became the king's lover and eventually became the first Duke of Buckingham. Julianne Moore and Nicholas Galitzine star in this series that combines historical drama, comedy and political thriller full of palace intrigue, sex and a whole lot of sass. There are already those who have described it as a mix between The Favorite and The Great.

When and where can you see it? On Friday 8th on SkyShowtime.

Manhunt: The hunt for the murderer

Such brave girls

Kat Sadler, creator and star of the series “Such Brave Girls.”Kat Sadler, creator and star of the series “Such Brave Girls.”

Kat Sadler is the creator and star of this BBC comedy about a family consisting of two sisters (the actresses are also sisters in real life) and their mother. Although the official plot doesn't say much – an irreverent family comedy about a dysfunctional family that goes through life with little judgment and a quirky sense of humor – critics have highlighted its honesty and the way it manages to delve into dark areas to advance. They also highlight Kat Sadler as a new comedic voice to keep an eye on.

When and where can you see it? On Tuesday the 19th at Filmin.

The starting point of the plot are some signals that are sent into space by a secret military project and reach some aliens who decide to travel to Earth and communicate with humans through a kind of video game. The cast is led by Eiza Gonzalez and Benedict Wong, and the cast includes some names familiar to Game of Thrones fans like John Bradley, Liam Cunningham and Jonathan Pryce.

Renegade Nell

Sally Wainwright, creator of Happy Valley, is responsible for this adventure comedy set in 1705 England. After being accused of murder, young Nell Jackson flees the streets and robs carriages to survive. In time, she will discover that she plays a crucial role in stopping a magical conspiracy against the Queen of England.
