On Tuesday, the ESPN network said the director of professional staff at California formation Ran Carthon had landed the vacant job with the Titans.

This organization appointed Ryan Cowden as interim CEO last December following the firing of Jon Robinson. Cowden was also interviewed for the full-time position but would obviously have been preferred to those who work for the “Niners”.

Carthon played three seasons as a running back in the NFL, primarily with the Indianapolis Colts. After hanging up his shoulder pads, he was a pro scout with the Atlanta Falcons (2008-2011), director of player staff with the Rams (2012-2016), and has worked with the 49ers since 2017.

In 2022, the Titans went 7-10 and finished second in the American South Division. They missed the playoffs for the first time since the 2018 season.
