The relationships between the university centers go back more than a decade
The expansion of studies on historical and cultural heritage encourages the International University of Andalusia (UNIA) and its headquarters Antonio Machado in Baeza (Jaén, Spain) and the University of Ciego de Ávila Máximo Gómez Báez, which recently reactivated the relationship of exchange, collaboration and collaboration Has .
These links go back more than a decade, as evidenced by the meeting between Elsa Fernández Rodríguez, representative of the Avilan University House, and Juan Jiménez, director of the Andalusian headquarters. A statement from the university informs that during the meeting the materialization of projects with UNIA through the Baeza headquarters was addressed.
“The collaboration between both universities began in 2011 with the aim of contributing to the analysis and research of the cultural heritage of Ciego de Ávila, following the most innovative trends, applying the most up-to-date concepts and implementing the relationships between the use of heritage and the development of the territory and the training of Cuban teachers, technicians and professionals in these disciplines,” said Jiménez.
Also participating in the exchange was the researcher and technician of the Specialized Research Support Center (CEAI-UNIA), Antonio Ortega Ruiz, in charge of the projects carried out by UNIA on Avilan properties.
Ortega Ruiz is editor of the book Cultural Heritage in the Province of Ciego de Ávila (Cuba): Analysis and Proposals for Itineraries published by the University of Andalusia, bringing together a group of 10 authors from Avilanian and seven from Spain from the municipalities Autonomous Regions of Andalusia and Catalonia.
The text was presented in Spain in 2021, with the participation of Headquarters Director María de los Ángeles Peinado; the Consul General of Cuba in Andalusia, Irelia López; the Culture Councilor of the Baeza City Council, Rosa Martínez, and the editor of the work, Antonio Ortega.
During her stay in Jaén, Elsa Fernández Rodríguez also held a meeting with representatives of the Spanish Communist Party, where the declaration condemning the United States blockade against Cuba was signed.
