The uOttaHack initiative was designed to give students the opportunity to further advance their passion for technology and entrepreneurship while building a community of people who share the same desire: to revolutionize the world of business and technology. Company-created challenges, job fairs, conferences, presentations and mini-activities are on the program to ensure a professional and entertaining experience for all participants.
“It is a great pleasure for us to once again welcome uOttaHack, an unmissable event for innovative minds for six years now,” says Deniz Jasarbasic, data science student at the Faculty of Engineering and co-director of the event.

The University of Ottawa Hackathon is much more than a weekend of activities. Because uOttaHack approaches concrete problems technologically and creatively, it promotes the participants' technical skills and their ability to work in a team. This platform also connects the next generation of technology workers with industry leaders and potential mentors, opening doors to internships and employment opportunities.

In 2023, more than 1,500 applications were received and more than 500 “hackers” took part in the 11 organized workshops thanks to the support of 25 sponsors. Over the years, uOttaHack has been able to count on the participation of around forty universities, around fifty companies and 2,146 “hackers”, to whom we owe thousands of projects.
