The US ambassador to the UN said on Sunday that she could not confirm the statement of the Mariupol City Council about the deportation of Ukrainian citizens to Russia from Mariupol.

“Can you confirm? Does the US know this is happening? And if it is happening, how worrying is it?” Tupper asked Thomas Greenfield.
“I only heard about it,” Thomas-Greenfield replied. “I can’t confirm it.”
“But I can say that it is alarming. It is shameless on the part of Russia to force Ukrainian citizens to enter Russia and place them in concentration camps and prisoner of war camps,” Thomas-Greenfield added. “So, this is what we need to check. Russia should not resettle Ukrainian citizens against their will in Russia.”
Regarding chemical weapons, Thomas-Greenfield told Tupper that allied forces would “react aggressively” if Russian forces used such weapons against Ukrainians, and the White House has warned that this could happen.
“They used chemical weapons against their own people. And we are concerned that they may use chemical weapons in Ukraine.” Thomas Greenfield said.
“We have made it clear that if they go to this level, we will react aggressively to what they do. You have already seen the consequences of our actions against Russia and against Putin. And they feel these effects. And they will feel stronger if they make this unfortunate decision to use chemical weapons.”
