The US embassy in Cuba warns against postponing interview dates

The consular section of the United States Embassy in Havana announced this Tuesday that it has postponed all interviews scheduled for January 3, 2023.

Those summoned for that day will now be interviewed on December 29, 2022, said the diplomatic headquarters on its website and on social networks.

The embassy recommends visa applicants with interviews scheduled for January 3 to check their email for more information about the new date.

The change was due to program adjustments, the diplomatic headquarters said.

The U.S. government announced months ago that its embassy in Havana will resume full processing of immigrant visas beginning January 4, 2023 to include immediate family, family preference, diversity visa, and fiancé K visa categories.

This increase is part of the broader expansion of the embassy’s functions to facilitate diplomatic and civil society participation and to provide safe, legal and orderly migration opportunities for Cuban citizens, the U.S. State Department said at the time.

Immigrant visa applicants scheduled for January 2023 appointments in Havana have been receiving appointment notifications since November 10, 2022. The embassy explained that cases of applicants who provide a residential address in Cuba on their DS-260 forms are automatically assigned to Havana. unless they were already scheduled in Georgetown.
