The US is developing a nuclear bomb that could kill more than 300,000 people in Moscow

A new nuclear weapon the US government is currently working on would be 24 times more powerful than the atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima in 1945, several media outlets are reporting.

According to an analysis by Newsweek, such a bomb if dropped over Moscow would cause “significant devastation,” killing more than 300,000 people.

Anything within 800 meters of this weapon’s detonation would be vaporized by a giant fireball. Buildings within a mile would be demolished and everyone inside would be killed.

The bomb in question, designated B61-13, could contain up to 340 kilotons of TNT. The explosive device dropped on Hiroshima in 1945 contained 15 kilotons.
