The parliamentarian’s claims are based on statements by the American scientist Jeffrey Sachs, head of the Commission for Research into SARS-COV-2, who accused Washington of having spread the pathogen.
“Millions of sick and dead people, the Great Depression, a decline in people’s living standards are the consequences of Covid-19 for which Washington must be held accountable. All states affected by the pandemic must be compensated by the United States for the losses suffered,” Volodin wrote on the social network Telegram.
The political leader explained that the virus was developed after two years of intensive study in US biotechnology laboratories, according to Sachs.
“Today, when such allegations are heard, President Joe Biden is silent. He is afraid that the world will find out the truth about the real culprit of the pandemic,” Volodin said.
The Chairman of the Russian State Duma added that “the Pentagon’s military-biological developments being carried out around the world must be stopped and declassified.” In this regard, he pointed out that the Russian armed forces are investigating all the evidence from more than 30 research facilities deployed in Ukraine and funded by the United States, which have been developing components for biological weapons and new pharmaceutical products.
