Karl Tremblay, best known as the singer of the group Les Cowboys Fringants, was also a big fan of video games and even founded his own studio Triple Boris. Since his death on Wednesday, tributes have been pouring in from the video game industry.
“Thank you for sharing your passion for video games with us,” wrote Triple Boris on X (ex-Twitter) and expressed his condolences to Karl Tremblay’s family.

It’s rare in the music industry to have such a strong love for video games. Karl Tremblay was very proud to say that it was a passion for him.
Although he hasn’t met him personally, Olivier Leclair, who develops national video games for Quebec, feels inspired by Karl Tremblay. He had strong political beliefs and incorporated these into his art. It is inspiring and will guide me in my career,” explains Mr. Leclair.

For Olivier Leclair the announcement came as a shock. Just 20 minutes earlier, he had had success with his crowdfunding campaign for Nightmares of October, his next upcoming title that will focus on the October Crisis.
Because the campaign ended at the same time as the death, the first comments I received were: “Are you planning to pay tribute to him?” says Mr. Leclair.
To make matters worse, the choice of a street name in the game had just been released by a donor who had decided to convert his donation into money a few hours earlier.
I said to myself: Everything is connected, we will name a street in the game after Karl Tremblay.
I was afraid to suggest it so as not to seem like I was surfing [l’événement]. But a lot of people asked me what I would do. And the response has been very good so far, he emphasizes, pointing out that he will wait for the blessing of his relatives before continuing.

A tribute to Karl Tremblay is also a given for Vincent Presseau, head of the independent studio Carcajou, who is collaborating with Triple Boris on his title Once a Tale, which is in development. He has some ideas about how he could pay tribute to him in his game.
It is partly thanks to him that Once a Tale exists. “I had to pitch the project to Triple Boris to see if they would come on board with us,” emphasizes Vincent Presseau.

The singer’s passion for video games led him to participate in the show M. Net, which aired on MusiquePlus from 1998 to 2014. Its moderator, Denis Talbot, reacted to the death of Karl Tremblay on Facebook: “Karl, you made me laugh with your voice.” own humor… and today I’m crying. I’ll miss you.

There have been numerous reactions since Wednesday and the sadness is palpable. So much so that François Savard, director of the Virtual Guardians Foundation, which conducts online street work, has set up a temporary discussion channel on the foundation’s Discord server.

Four road workers were on duty Wednesday to respond to possible emergency calls from players. The work continues. “This was the main topic of discussion on most of the channels on which our digital street workers intervened,” specifies François Savard.
