The 54-year-old View co-host spoke to People about her physical struggles, calling the decision to go under the knife a “health” and “self-care” decision. The two-time author told the publication that she now feels like “a better version of myself.”
Sunny made the decision after years of struggling with body image and dealing with uncomfortable back pain.

The longtime television personality added, “I thought I’d embarrass myself and be like, ‘Oh my god, I do plastic surgery like all these crazy celebrities.’ But I’m not ashamed at all,” she admitted.
The New York-raised star also noted that she wants to spark a conversation about plastic surgery to help destigmatize it.
“I hope sharing my story will help more people. If they’re feeling as body conscious as I am – they can do whatever they need to do to feel better,” Sunny explained.
Hostin, the mother of son Gabriel, 20, and daughter Paloma, 16, first experienced self-confidence as a young girl.
“I was a double D when I was 16,” she revealed. “I didn’t imagine my breasts would get bigger at birth — but they did.”
Uplifting: The two-time author told the publication that she feels like “a better version of myself” after the surgery.
She addressed her physical challenges after becoming a full-time host on the long-running ABC show: “My waist was small, but my top was so big I had to wear a minimizer bra and a sports bra or tie all the time would time.’
It was a collaborative effort, as she noted that her stylist “would put clips on the back of my dress so everything would line up.”
Things came to a head less than a year ago as she prepared for the White House Correspondents’ Dinner.
“I cried,” she recalled after realizing that the built-in bra for the dress she chose for the occasion didn’t fit her bust size.
“I sat there and didn’t eat anything. I couldn’t raise my hand because my boobs would fall out,” Hostin recalled.
Her next step was to schedule an appointment with Dr. Ryan Neinstein, a plastic surgeon, and Dr. Anna Steve, a breast specialist.
In August, she successfully underwent a breast reduction and lift, as well as liposuction on her waist and chin.
Happy ending: Sunny said, “Now I dance around my house naked all the time – I feel great”; seen in 2019
Months later, Sunny said, “Now I dance around my house naked all the time — I feel great.”
The I Am These Truths author has slimmed down, going from a G cup to a C cup, and she joked, “I don’t know, you might see me naked on The View!”
She continued: “I look through magazines and Instagram accounts. I’ve always thought, “Oh, they have to eat clean.”
“No, they aren’t – many of them take some or have plastic surgery. It’s your choice to keep it private. But I really wanted to be honest. And I’m so happy.”
Her touching tribute: The star shared a sweet tribute to Barbara Walters, The View’s ‘mentor’, who recently passed away
