France D’Amour didn’t hesitate to take on the challenge of temporarily replacing Marjo in her coaching chair for “La Voix” on Sunday when her friend wasn’t feeling well enough to go to the studio after contracting COVID-19 .

After making sure she could find round-trip flights to Tampa, Fla., where she currently resides, she sped to the airport with only a small carry-on suitcase. “That’s all I thought of,” she told QMI Agency. We do to others what we would have liked to do. If I had problems, I want my friends to be able to replace me at any time. Marjo is sick, I’m leaving, I don’t ask myself any questions, we’ll see. I arrived with my toothbrush and a mini suitcase but the whole La Voix team took good care of me.”
The concept of La Voix is no stranger to France D’Amour, who mentored Marc Dupré’s team in 2014. It’s an important element. I felt accepted and confident to be by Marc’s side [Dupré]Mario [Pelchat] and Cornelius. Also, I’ve been in constant contact with Marjo since Friday evening. She gave me a lot of encouragement. The production sent me all the information, I was able to read the biographies of all the candidates. I was able to prepare well for the rehearsals on Saturday.

As she prepared to leave immediately after Sunday night’s show ended, she confided that she had been living in Marjo’s chair for a while. “It’s very different from what you see on TV and when you’re on set the emotions are more direct. What the three candidates from Marjo’s team have in common is that they were both strong and fragile at the same time. They had it both ways, it was very interesting. That’s also one of the pieces of advice I gave them in the rehearsal: “Go to the extreme, one way or the other”. It was beautiful and inspiring.”
A 14th album this fall
If France D’Amour is currently in Florida, it’s because she’s working on her 14th album, which will be called 14.
“For my records I always did the music before the lyrics. But this time the lyrics are the basis of the songs and then I add the music. I’ve tried to be more intimate, more real and more authentic, and the music follows that direction as well.
She has written about forty lyrics, but she will only keep ten for the album. “After the last few years we’ve just lived, I had to give to express something more luminous. I want to be positive, emphasize the beautiful. If we have to row, we row together.”
The singer will return to Florida to finish her album in Brossard and Mascouche before a release planned for this fall.
