The Chicago White Sox fired Vice President Kenny Williams and General Manager Rick Hahn on Tuesday.
The former had been on the staff of the Illinois club since 2000. He was the team’s general manager until his promotion to vice president in 2012. He also wore the team’s colors as an outfielder from 1988–89. The 59-year-old also played for the Detroit Tigers (1989-1990), the Toronto Blue Jays (1990-1991) and the Montreal Expos (1991).
Hahn joined the White Sox in 2002 and was promoted to general manager in 2012.
The Chicago team has held a record of 49-76 so far in 2023. This comes as a surprise considering most pundits saw the White Sox dominate the AL Central prior to the start of the season.
Kenyan substitute Middleton, who joined the New York Yankees in early August, said “everybody’s fighting each other” and that the White Sox “lack a seriousness”.
