Gareth Whitton was crowned the winner of Dessert Masters 2023 in an emotional grand finale episode on Tuesday night.
He will receive the title of Australia’s first ever Dessert Champion and $100,000 in prize money.
For his final dessert, the pastry chef received the highest score from judges Melissa Leong and Amaury Guichon, beating Jess Liemantara and Reynold Poernomo.
“I never expected that I would be in the final. I relied on the chef. “I mean, I give the guys all the credit,” he said after his win.
“We gave it everything we had and… ..You know, coming through in the end is unreal for me.”

Reynold told Judge Melissa that while his time was shorter this time, it was much more meaningful.
Every time I’ve been here, it’s definitely led me down a path and a career that I really love and… I enjoy being there and being a part of it and I’m so thankful and grateful . ‘
