Season 3 of The Witcher has entered production, and considering where we left last season 2 when everyone and her uncle were looking to get their hands on young Ciri’s power, it stands to reason that we’d like some fresh ones Faces will be gotten when we return to the continent – some of them quite familiar.
Netflix has confirmed four new major casting additions for Season 3, including The Flash’s Robbie Amell and Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City; Meng’er Zhang of Shang Chi; Hugh Skinner from Mamma Mia! and Fleabag; and Christelle Elwin of Bloods. The third season of The Witcher does not yet have an expected release date.
Amell will play an elf named Gallatin, who leads an army of Scoia’tael – non-human guerrilla warriors also known as “squirrels” who fight against human-centric oppression – and works with the Nilfgaardians. Gallatin is described as “unafraid to speak his truth” and is on a collision course with Francesca, the current leader of the elf refugees, played by Mecia Simson in season 2. Zhang will play Milva, a human adopted by the Dryads of Brokilon and Forest trained in her own way as a huntress.
“Accurate archery skills coupled with a stone-cold survivability make her a formidable opponent on the unforgiving continent,” reads a provided character description, adding, “Those who traverse do so at their own risk.”
Skinner plays Prince Radovid, the younger brother of the King of Redania. Thrust into a deadly game of political intrigue with his kingdom’s notorious network of spies and intelligence agents, Radovid uses his playboy charm to hide a “cutting” political fortune. Rounding out the new characters is Elwins Mistletoe, a “street tough, suspicious of everyone” teenager who is a member of a gang called The Rats, a ragtag group who steal wealth from the elite to line their own pockets and occasionally to help other downtrodden people help peasant folk until a “chance meeting” with someone promises to change their lives forever.
The new faces join a returning cast that includes – breathe deeply – Henry Cavill, Anya Chalotra, Freya Allan, Joey Batey, MyAnna Buring, Tom Canton, Jeremy Crawford, Eamon Farren, Mahesh Jadu, Terence Maynard, Lars Mikkelsen, Mimî M Khayisa, Royce Pierreson, Wilson Mbomio, Anna Shaffer, Therica Wilson-Read, Cassie Clare, Mecia Simson, Graham McTavish, Bart Edwards, Simon Callow, Liz Carr, Ed Birch, and Kaine Zajaz. Nowadays there are many people on the continent!
