“The Wokes want to abolish Mother’s Day,” said Conservative leader Pierre Poilievre after a Quebec elementary school proposed replacing Mother’s Day with “Parents’ Day” on the grounds of “family heterogeneity.”
“This bizarre ideology — which Trudeau advocated at his party’s convention — seeks to wipe out everything but the state, which would control everything and everyone,” Poilievre accused on Twitter.

The idea put forward by some teachers at the La Chanterelle school had generated many reactions on social networks, even responding to the Minister of Education, Bernard Drainville.
“It was never an option to remove mums or dads from our schools. And there will never be any talk of it,” he tweeted on Wednesday.

The school later reversed its decision.
“The teachers concerned have reconsidered their decision and will suggest that students make a craft to give to their mother or an important mother figure on Mother’s Day,” the spokesman for the school’s service center in the capital said in writing.
Quebec Conservative Party leader Éric Duhaime also protested the idea of changing Mother’s Day.
“It’s wokism at its worst,” he commented on LCN on Wednesday.
At least one other school would have tried to follow in the footsteps of the Chanterelle teachers before changing their minds after outcry from many parents.
