The world champion with Spain resigns from the national team after there were no changes in the RFEF

Tremble in reality Spanish Football Association (RFEF). Just a few hours after coach Montse Tomé’s call for the Women’s Nations League, 39 players (including those who were crowned champions at the last World Cup in Australia and New Zealand) informed the RFEF that they will not join the women’s team due to insufficient structural changes in the highest authority in Spanish football.

A total of 39 players signed this letter, published on social networks, in which they expressed their dissatisfaction “after the events during the medal ceremony at the Women’s World Cup and the subsequent extraordinary meeting of the RFEF”. The events that unfortunately affected everyone could recognize that they are nothing concrete and go beyond sport.

In it, they pointed out that some structural changes should have been made that “do not tolerate or be part of such degrading events.” They also made it clear that they were open to dialogue and tried to convey clear and necessary reasons to be able to carry out their work “at the highest level and with the respect we deserve.”

In addition, they made it clear what changes they demanded but were not implemented in the RFEF, making them feel unsafe in a place where women are not respected:

  • Restructuring of the women’s football organizational chart.
  • Reorganization of the Presidential Cabinet and the Secretary General.
  • Resignation of the President of the RFEF.
  • Restructuring of the communications and marketing area.
  • Restructuring of the integrity department.

Finally, they emphasized that this is a good time to fight and show that “these situations and practices have no place in our football or in our society, that the current structure needs changes and we are doing this so that the next generations “We can have a lot of it.” better football.” equally and at the level of what we all deserve.
