Around the world, people are gathering to say goodbye to 2023 and hello to 2024.
Sydney and Auckland are among the first major cities to celebrate the New Year with large fireworks displays.
In New York City, the NYPD increased security for the famous ball drop in Times Square following the Hamas attack on Israel, CBS New York reported. Despite additional security measures, the FBI said there was no credible threat to New York City, according to CBS New York.
