Young Canadian influencer Lil Tay, whose death was announced on her Instagram account on Wednesday, would finally be alive.
The 14-year-old’s family told TMZ in a statement that the internet sensation’s Instagram account was hacked instead.
The post announcing the death of Lil Tay, as well as that of his brother, was also removed from the social network on Thursday.
“I want to make it clear that me and my brother are alive and safe,” Lil Tay said in the statement. My Instagram account was compromised and people used it to spread false rumors about me, to the point that even my name was fake. My official name is Tay Tian, and not “Claire Hope”.
She also claims to have received many calls from relatives who were very scared to hear the message, to whom she had to tell it was fake.
Lil Tay rose to fame in 2017 when she posted videos of herself on social media showing how she embraced a luxurious lifestyle despite her very young age.
The teenager has not been active online since 2018.
