After just 13 short games in the American League (AHL) with the Texas Stars, the Dallas Stars’ farm club, the team’s 2022 first-round pick (18th overall), Lian Bichsel, asked to return to Sweden for his to continue development.
The 19-year-old defender’s wish will also be fulfilled on Monday by the general manager of the Texans team, Jim Nill. He will continue his season with BK Rögle in the Swedish Elite Ice Hockey Championship (SHL) before returning to the AHL.

“We respect Lian’s decision [Bichsel] “I will return to Rögle BK for the rest of the season and look forward to following his development,” Nill said in a statement published on the Stars website. Lian is a big part of our future and we look forward to him coming to Texas next spring.”
In 13 games this season with Texas, Bichsel has one goal and four assists while also posting a -1 record.
