This year, the topic of the dissertation will be placed under the sign of economics, specifically with a question on economic growth: “Is the accumulation of production factors the only source of economic growth? less ambivalent approach to work, but more social science-oriented, since it is primarily about the evolution of gainful employment and the integrative role of work, combining economics and sociology.
How does the SES subject examination work at the upper secondary level?
The subject examination in economics and social sciences lasts four hours. For this specialization, candidates have a choice of three subjects: one subject of the dissertation based on a documentation and two subjects of the compound examination. If they decide on the dissertation, the candidates only have to answer one question, but they have to explain it in detail and, above all, argue it. The composite exams are divided into two parts. The first exercise, obligatory and common to all candidates, is a mental exercise based on a ten-point documentation. The second half of the exam differs between the two subjects. Candidates may choose to answer one knowledge mobilization question worth four credits and complete a document study for six credits, or answer three knowledge mobilization questions for a total of ten credits.
In order to cover all the topics of the program and give candidates a better chance of success, each part of the test addresses different topics from the program. Note that the dissertation and the third part of the compound test (the document study) refer to several topics of the SES program.
When does the economics and social sciences subject examination take place in the baccalaureate course?
The examination session for the professional examinations is short, from May 11th to 13th, which limits the possibilities for the examination date. The SES specialty test is scheduled for the afternoon of Wednesday 11th and Thursday 12th from 2pm to 6pm, according to the specialized website l’Etudiant.
When will the SES test results be released?
A priori, the results of the specialist exam in economics and social sciences will be available on July 5 at the same time as the results of the other exams (French, philosophy and oral major).
