There are signs of relaxation in pellet prices

The business

Heating could be more expensive this winter than ever before. Heating oil and gas prices, in particular, have risen enormously as a result of the war in Ukraine. But there is good news for anyone who heats the house with pellets. Experts expect prices to fall again soon.

In recent months, the price of a ton of pellets has continued to rise. In June you had to pay around 400 euros for it, the price per tonne is currently around 590 euros, says Gerhard Mattle, vice president of energy traders at the Chamber of Commerce. Prices have gone up because the demand for pellets has also increased. At the same time, there are fewer raw materials, ie sawdust and wood, on the market.

More raw materials on the market again

Here, however, Mattle now sees a slow easing. More raw material traders would come forward again and offer their sawdust to pellet manufacturers. Therefore, Mattle assumes that the price per ton of pellets will fall again in the coming months.
