A second femicide this year took place on the island of La Réunion this Sunday. Charlotte Dalleau was fatally stabbed by her companion. The first took place last March: Elise Ramassamy was also a victim of her spouse. Back to the facts.
Elise Ramassamy, in her fifties, was found dead at home in Sainte-Marie last March with a head wound. She had been fatally attacked by her husband, who left her in a pool of blood. The latter, who also attempted to kill his children, later killed himself by jumping from the Ravine-Charpentier bridge onto the Sainte-Marie dual carriageway.
The victim’s father testified after the tragedy: “My daughter is a brave person, she has worked. She didn’t say if her husband was violent or not, now the drama happened. She grabbed her snack and coffee as usual, then did her chores. I think as she was washing the dishes her husband came up behind her and kicked her in the head. My granddaughter called me “Grandpa, Grandpa, Mama is on the floor”. When I arrived she was bleeding and not moving. She was already dead. I got there before the firefighters.”
Second woman murder of the year
This Sunday another woman became a victim of her companion. Charlotte Dalleau, 49, was fatally stabbed to death in Sainte-Rose this morning by her companion Gérard Plante.
After committing the irretrievable, Gérard Plante fled to friends in Bois-Blanc, who then alerted the gendarmerie. He was injured and treated by paramedics.
The victim left 3 children and a family that does not understand this loss: “This morning my brother called me and I heard the gendarmes coming but I thought it was an accident” says that Charlotte was killed and that Gérard killed her stabbed her bed,” explains the victim’s uncle.
