There is already panic among the Flames

The Calgary Flames season is only seven games old and the frustration is already palpable.

On Tuesday evening, the Alberta club lost 3-1 to the New York Rangers. The Flames are now 2-4-1. After the game against the “Blueshirts,” striker Blake Coleman poured his heart out.

“The defeat has to keep us up at night,” said the man whose comments were reported by the Sportsnet network. I hate to lose. I think I can speak for the boys and say we are all disappointed to lose. It’s burning me from the inside. We have to be the ones who hate losing more than winning.”

“I’m angry and I think several of my teammates are angry right now. I hope many people use this properly and make it a source of motivation,” Coleman added.

Not Sutter’s fault

Before the game against the Rangers, it was defenseman Nikita Zadorov who expressed his frustration with the Flames’ performance.

“We just don’t work as a team,” said the Russian. We have too many players who play alone. We have to decide whether we want to play as a team or as a free-for-all.”

Last year the Flames made the playoffs with a 38-27-17 record. The organization subsequently did not offer general manager Brad Treliving a contract extension and fired head coach Darryl Sutter. The differences of opinion between the players and the pilot caused a lot of excitement after the 65-year-old was fired.

“It was different last season,” Zadorov said. It was Darryl. Now Darryl is gone. There are no more excuses. Do you understand what i am trying to say? Don’t like tough coaches? Don’t like soft sneakers? Don’t like good trainers? You just have to play with intensity on the ice. I think it’s that simple.”
