Her name was Theresa Cachuela and she was 33 years old. She was murdered by her partner this Friday, just before the Christmas holidays. The young woman lived in Waipahu, Hawaii (USA) with her three children and was a beauty influencer, mainly on Instagram, where she had almost 20,000 subscribers, reports the local newspaper Honolulu Star Advertiser.
Theresa Cachuela was killed this Friday in the parking lot of the Pearlridge Center shopping center in 'Aiea, a city about fifteen kilometers from Honolulu. Her 44-year-old husband shot her in the head in front of their 8-year-old daughter. He then fled. His body was found a few hours later 7 km away; the suicide trail is favored by investigators.
A deportation order against the spouse
According to local news site Hawaii News Now, the man had no criminal record but had repeatedly threatened suicide in the days leading up to the incident. The victim reported to the police on December 8th despite threats from her husband and obtained a temporary deportation order against him. In her complaint filed with authorities, she said he “threatened to kill himself in front of me and my children. “He took me to Waikiki alone and held a knife to my neck.”
In the temporary deportation order, the police stated that the man had several firearms in his apartment. During a hearing held two days before the events, on December 21, the couple agreed that the man would continue the deportation process and continue to enjoy visitation rights with his three children.
An open pot to finance the funeral
The victim's mother, Lucita Ani-Nihoa, told local media that she had to meet her daughter at the mall at the time of the incident because the two women had to do Christmas shopping there. According to her, Theresa Cachuela had informed her relatives that she had been a victim of domestic violence. To this end, she was supported by associations that specialize in supporting women who have become victims of their spouses.
“She wanted to leave him, but he wouldn't accept it. He tried to control her in every area… where she went, what she did,” said Lucite Ani-Nihoa, who added that her daughter had recently filed for divorce. The 8-year-old girl who witnessed the tragedy was very shocked, according to her grandmother: “She doesn't believe it. She doesn't believe her mother is gone. I don’t believe it,” she told Hawaii News Now.
Theresa Cachuela's mother has launched an online fundraiser to help pay for the funeral of her daughter, nicknamed “Tita.” As a result, almost 35,000 euros have already been raised to help the family of the murdered thirty-year-old.
