Google Maps is one of the tools that has revolutionized the mapping and mobility of people around the globe the most.
Nowadays it’s very easy to find directions to any place and know exactly where your destination is, even with photos and reviews. But did you know that there are places that aren’t shown in the tool?
There are some “hidden” places in the Google Maps who for certain reasons partly mysterious and secretive cannot appear in the application.

10 Hidden and Mysterious Places on Google Maps
2208 Seymour Avenue (USA)
There is a house on Seymour Avenue in Ohio, USA that is censored by Google Maps. Instead of a picture of the place there is a big blur.
Because between 2002 and 2004 it was the scene of terrible crimes. Three women were captured, tortured and held captive until 2013, when one of the victims escaped and sought help.
Patio dos Laranjais (Spain)
The Patio de los Naranjos, or Courtyard of the Orange Trees, is located in the municipality of Almería, Spain. However, the area is very blurry on Google Maps.
There’s no official reason, but the most common theory is that the site houses Spanish government buildings and is therefore under lock and key.
Jeannette Island (Russia)
Jeannette Island is located in the East Siberian Sea. It is an icecovered area, the central peak of which reaches an altitude of 350 meters. not much, right?
However, the area around the island on Google Maps is partially blurred without much explanation. It is speculated to be a site of conflict between Russia and the United States.
Tantauco National Park (Chile)
Tantauco National Park in Chile is a large green space with lots of native fauna and flora. It is precisely for this reason that the location is not visible on Google Maps.
There is only one big green square in the app. The measure was taken as a security measure to prevent wildlife traders from knowing what is there or using the map for their crimes.
Morurua (French Polynesia)
The island of Moruroa is part of the French Polynesian archipelago but is completely censored on Google Maps. Only a blue patch can be seen, as if the area was completely covered by the sea.
The reason is believed to be a number of nuclear tests conducted by France in the region between 1966 and 1996.
Areva La Hague (France)
Since its opening in 1976, AREVA La Hague has been used to process nuclear fuel from many countries.
This led to the site being the target of several Greenpeace accusations for allegedly dumping large amounts of radioactive waste into the sea and being censored on Google Maps.
StocktononTees (UK)
A house on Princeport Street in StocktononTees, UK is completely empty on Google Maps.
Unlike the first place on our list, no heinous crimes took place there, nor anything particularly notable. And the neighbors have no answers either. This is a mysterious case or a very mysterious owner.
Military base (Greece)
The area of the Greek military base in the national capital of Athens is completely blurred on Google Maps. There is little explanation for this other than that it is for national security reasons.
Minamitorishima Airport (Japan)
Minami Torishima Airport in Japan is a different color when we search for its location on Google Maps. The location is whitish and neon colored to hide some details of its true position.
This is because the airport serves as a base for the Japanese Navy. Therefore, the location must be confidential.
North Korea
A North Korea It tightly controls what enters and leaves the country outside its borders. For this very reason, nothing of the country’s territory can be seen on Google Maps except for the names of some cities or mountains.
