The corona pandemic has heavily affected international air traffic. However, by mid-2022 at the latest, airlines will again see an increase in passenger demand, business is improving, and in some cases the pre-crisis level will be reached or surpassed.
The good thing is that the restart after the Corona lull was largely safe. This is the result of a safety ranking by the Hamburg air accident agency Jacdec, published in the aviation magazine Aero International. In principle, an extremely high level of safety has been achieved again in civil air traffic, said Jan-Arwed Richter, who led the study.
The safest airlines in the previous year were therefore the two Arab airlines etihad and Emirates. They flew in 2022 with a particularly low risk. Etihad, unrated in 2021, pushed Emirates into second place. Both companies have relatively young fleets.
