president Gustav Petro will pay an official visit today Buenaventura, Valle del Cauca; where he will meet with the departmental and municipal authorities to find out about the security and order situation and to develop strategies to improve this aspect, where the port has been badly affected in recent months. This situation led to that Mayor of the municipality, Víctor Hugo Vidal Piedrahita, will announce a series of provisions to ensure the President’s integrity. It is expected to reach this population of the Colombian Pacific later in the morning.

According to the known agenda, around 9 a.m., Gustav Petro will arrivea Second River Brigade of Marines, where he will meet with several church and department leaders; then, around 2 p.m., at the Cosmos Hotel, with whom he is expected to meet Leonard Renteriaone of the most recognized social leaders of the Port of Valle del Cauca.

The situation in the western part of the Colombian Pacific is complicated, almost every week there are complaints about clashes between armed groups or common criminals, including or against public authorities. These attacks directly affect citizens and, logically, have claimed the lives of several people and society leaders.

“Understood as the irregular transportation and sale of petroleum-derived liquid fuels when distributed, marketed and transported by means of cylinders, tanks, gallons or the like”.

The President will then continue to visit these violence-plagued areas, even though Petro Aware of this situation, several Heads of State, Governors and Mayors have requested the President’s presence in these areas to protect citizens.
