Labor Day is celebrated in the United States on Monday, September 4th. This celebration is different from the celebration that takes place on May Day in other countries around the world.

The day is a public holiday throughout the North American country, however, there are many businesses that are open to the public on the day. Almost all US markets sell the goods on federal holidays.

However, the main feature of these atypical days is that some establishments have reduced opening hours. Another peculiarity of how these companies operate on Labor Day is that some of their facilities may close their doors.

Some markets have shorter opening hours

The outlets serving customers during their regular opening hours are: Albertson’s, Aldi, Big Lots, Buc-ees, Dollar General and Dollar Tree. Dunkin’, Food Lion, Fresh Market, Harris Teeter, Home Depot, Hy-Vee, Kohl’s, Kroger, Lowes, McDonald’s, Meijer and Petco will also work during their normal hours.

At the same time, they will offer their products PetSmart, Publix, RiteAid, Safeway, Sam’s Club, 7-Eleven, Shop Rite, Starbucks, Target, Trader Joe’s, Ulta and Wawa. The other retail outlet that will be running all of its stores is Whole Foods.

Acme and Walmart stores will open their doors during normal business hours, but private label pharmacies will remain closed. The Walgreens company typically offers items for break-time appointments, but adjusts hours of operation based on the geographic location of its space. The same alternative is chosen by CVS.

One of the retail chains that will not be open to the public this holiday is Costco. This is the second largest trading company in the world and respects the vacation of its employees. Whenever there is a national holiday, Costco decides to give its employees the day off.
