Bus crash involving migrants leaves dozens dead in Panama 4:11

(CNN Spanish) — The remains of 13 migrants killed in a bus accident in Panama were buried in a solemn funeral this Friday as humanitarian work for these victims, the country’s Institute of Legal Medicine and Forensics reported.

The buried bodies correspond to migrants from Eritrea, Nigeria and Haiti. Eight of those victims have not been identified and the other five have been identified but have not yet been claimed, the Panama State Ministry said.

These victims are part of the accident of a bus that fell off a cliff in Gualaca, Chiriquí province, on February 15, killing about 40 migrants.

The solemn ceremony took place in the Los Guayacanes Cemetery in the City of David in the same province and the remains were buried in a tomb but with individual and marked rooms. This was done not only to comply with international protocols, but also to make it easier to locate the bodies should loved ones claim them.

And he also reported that the bodies of three minors, who were unable to be identified by fingerprints, still lie in the Judiciary morgue in the City of David, awaiting DNA analysis.

The remaining bodies were previously delivered.
