Prosecutor Lucas Rocha Furtado requested the freezing of the ex-president’s (2019-2022) accounts as part of the investigation he is conducting to find the perpetrators of last Sunday’s attempt to disrupt the democratic system.
This step is in line with the view taken by the government of President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, which blamed the former head of state, who is in the United States (USA), for the attempted coup at the end of last week.

Meanwhile, Supreme Court Minister Alexandre de Moraes ordered the arrest of Anderson Torres, who served as Brasília’s public security secretary until Sunday.
Torres, who is on US soil, was also Attorney General during the Bolsonaro administration.
According to Minister de Moraes, Torres would be one of those responsible for the omission or complicity of the military police last Sunday, when thousands of Bolsonaro supporters stormed the ministries’ esplanade and entered the headquarters of the executive, legislative and judiciary and caused destruction.
An arrest warrant has also been issued against the former chief of the Brazilian police, Colonel Fabio Vieira, for alleged involvement in the failed coup.
