HAVANA.- Regarding international nursing day, The Cuban authorities today congratulated these professionals and underlined their commitment to public health in the country.
In a message on Twitter, Miguel Díaz-Canel, First Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) Central Committee and President of the Republic, reiterated that nurses are heroes of creative resistance, breaking the American blockade to save lives.
Prime Minister Manuel Marrero sent heartfelt congratulations and appreciation to these professionals on the same social network, emphasizing the important role they play in the national health system and their contribution to the heroic work of saving lives.
On behalf of Cuba, the Minister of Public Health, José Ángel Portal, thanked the vocation, sensitivity and dedication with which nurses defend life in the most diverse areas every day.
This is celebrated every May 12th international nursing day, in homage to Florence Nightingale, considered the mother of modern nursing.
