Pierluisi decreed Three days of mourning for the death of actor and comedian Luis Antonio Rivera, better known as “Yoyo Boing,” at the age of 93Therefore, flags of all government agencies must remain at half-mast from Wednesday, December 6th to Friday, December 8th, 2023.
“The loss of “Yoyo Boing” leaves a huge void in Puerto Rico’s cultural and television scene. His talent, his ability to convey joy and his distinctive style made him one of the island’s most popular comedians. “Yoyo” had a distinguished career in radio, television, film and theater, so his legacy will remain in our city’s history. With his departure, Puerto Rico loses a true pioneer of Puerto Rican comedy and television. “I share the grief that is overwhelming his family, friends and relatives, and I trust that God will give them the strength they need in this time of loss,” the governor said in written statements.

Actor and comedian Yoyo Boing has died
“Yoyo Boing” was born in Humacao and is considered one of the pioneers of Puerto Rican television and radio. In the 1960s and 1970s, when his peculiar stage name came about, he took part in several successful comedy shows hosted by Tommy Muñiz. Some of his most famous shows are: “The Spoiled Maid”, “The In-Laws” and “My Hippie I Love”. In addition, in “Desde mi Pueblo” he had the opportunity to review the wonders of each town on the island. During his varied career spanning more than five decades, he was also a presenter, worked in theater and in the dubbing industry.
