The President of the Supreme Electoral Court of Brazil, Alexandre de Moraes, rejected the Liberal Party’s request to annul the ballots for the October 30 elections that elected Labor Party candidate Luiz Inácio Lula Silva.
He also fined the equivalent of $4.27 million as punishment for bad faith for failing to provide evidence by the time required by the electoral authorities, the Telesur network reported.
The Brazilian President and his party filed complaints about alleged problems in 279,336 voting machines in the second ballot.
Judge Moraes also argued that the political organization’s request should also cover the votes of the first round, which took place on October 2, since both rounds used the same electronic devices and the same models.
